Special Awards for the Dallas Regional Science & Engineering Fair, Dallas Post of the American Military Engineers (SAME)
The Science and Engineer Fair is a research project competition affiliated with the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF), the world’s largest international pre-college science competition.
It is open to 7-12th graders from public and private schools in Texas Education Agency (TEA) region 10 who have won a school or district fair. 900 students from the area schools presented 750 projects. As the Dallas SAME Post lead, Shakeel Ahmed coordinated the awards and volunteer judges to make this special event happen. Sincere thanks to Victor Kimm, Russell Kelly and Billy Tollison for volunteering to serve as judges with Shakeel. The first prize winner, Param Jaggi of Plano East Senior High, designed a system utilizing Algae to convert CO2 from engine exhaust systems into oxygen with a secondary benefit of possibly generating bioactive energy from the Algae. Second prize winner, Siddharth Sant of Plano Senior high designed Nanoparticle Cancer Therapeutics for Tumor Targeted Drug Delivery, and third prize winner Sirish Kamarajugadda conducted a study optimizing the Efficiencies of Dye Sensitized Solar Cells for generating cheap and cleaner energy.
