IEA Welcomes Carlos Valdez, PE

Carlos Valdez, PE – Project Manager for CEI

At IEA, we value the expertise, dedication, and passion our team members bring to their roles. This month, we are excited to introduce Carlos Valdez, PE, our new Project Manager for Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI), based in El Paso, Texas.

A Proven Leader in Civil Engineering

Carlos’s professional journey spans almost two decades of construction and project management, with a focus on civil infrastructure. He has successfully led major projects in Texas, Colorado, and California, including work for TxDOT and other local agencies.

“With nearly 20 years of experience in construction and project management of civil infrastructure projects, I have successfully overseen major construction endeavors, including CEI Projects and Design-Build projects,” Carlos shared. “My extensive knowledge encompasses all facets of construction management, and I have collaborated with both federal and local public agencies throughout my career.”

Shaped by Impactful Projects

Carlos credits much of his professional growth to transformative design-build projects in his hometown of El Paso, Texas. This includes projects such as Spur 601, Americas Interchange, and Border West Expressway.

“These experiences have given me a comprehensive understanding of all phases of a project, from inception to managing the daily passage of thousands of vehicles through major interstate connectors,” he explained. “Working on toll lanes and the streetcar project has also played a crucial role in my career, providing valuable insights from small to large-scale projects.”

Such experiences have not only honed his technical expertise but also solidified his commitment to improving infrastructure for communities.

Vision for IEA

Carlos brings a clear and ambitious vision for his role at IEA, centered on driving growth and expanding the company’s reach into new territories.

“Having gained extensive experience not only in West Texas but also across the country, I am confident that this diverse background positions me well to contribute to IEA’s continued success,” he said. “My expertise in managing complex projects will be an asset as I work to expand IEA’s footprint beyond Texas, helping to drive growth and foster new opportunities in other states.”

With professional engineering licenses in both Texas and New Mexico, Carlos is uniquely positioned to broaden IEA’s operations and develop strategic initiatives in regional markets. His ability to integrate his diverse expertise with IEA’s objectives will propel the company into both established and emerging markets, ensuring a strong foundation for sustainable growth.

Beyond the Office

Work-life balance is a cornerstone of IEA’s culture, and Carlos exemplifies this in his personal life. In addition to his professional achievements, he dedicates his free time to supporting his family, particularly his son’s passion for Taekwondo.

“One of my hobbies has been opening a business for my son to support his passion for Taekwondo,” Carlos shared. “At 16 years old, with his 3rd-degree black belt, I helped him open his own Taekwondo studio, and now I dedicate my free time to assisting him with the management and growth of the business. I believe the best way to spend time is with family, and helping my son grow his business is a fulfilling way to do that.”

We are thrilled to have Carlos on board and look forward to seeing his contributions to IEA and the communities we serve. Welcome to the team, Carlos!
