David Speicher, PE, ENV SP, Joins IEA as Director of Business Development
Meet David — the newest addition to IEA's growing team.
In a strategic move towards IEA’s sustainable growth, we welcome David Speicher, PE, ENV SP, as our first Director of Business Development. His extensive leadership experience at TxDOT, the Cities of Fort Worth and Denton, and several major consulting firms will help drive IEA’s growth and advance our strategic vision for the future.
“I am thrilled to announce that David has joined IEA, bringing his exceptional expertise to spearhead our growth in central Texas and ensure outstanding project delivery,” said Shakeel Ahmed, PE, IEA’s CEO and Principal.
Recently, David led IEA leadership through a collaborative, strategic planning meeting to map out IEA’s 2026 pursuit goals and champions. His hands-on style of leadership emphasizes building confidence within teams, encouraging cross-discipline collaboration, and ensuring that every pursuit strengthens the organization.
“Business development has taught me that leadership is primarily about communication, alignment, and empowerment,” Speicher said. “Pursuits succeed when teams feel ownership—not when they are just ‘assigned’ roles.”
David’s presence in central Texas allows him to play a key role in establishing a new IEA office while leading business development initiatives statewide.
“Boasting over 33 years of industry experience, David is perfectly positioned to open doors to new opportunities and propel IEA to even higher levels of success,” Shakeel said.
When asked about his future at IEA, David said he looks forward to expanding IEA’s municipal and multimodal services, strengthening IDIQ programs, and developing strategic partnerships that foster growth and collaboration across Texas.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to build something transformative—scaling IEA’s footprint in Texas with a strategic, intentional approach that focuses on both new markets and deeper engagement with current clients,” said David.
Proven Impact and Lasting Relationships
Throughout his career, David felt pride in his proactive leadership strategies and how they have formed lasting relationships with colleagues and clients alike. “My success has always stemmed from trust—with clients, teammates, and partners—and I take that very seriously,” he said.
During his work as a Project Manager on the Darden Hill Roundabout, David used his focus on communication and trust to ensure a successful project. He coordinated closely with the local school district to help minimize impacts on the school from construction and ensure safe access for parents and students. David’s work to build a positive, trusting relationship with the school district shows his dedication to project success and the lasting impact of his relationships with clients.
A Passion Beyond Engineering
Outside of work, David has explored Texas’s growing wine culture. “I’ve recently developed a passion for Texas wines—visiting local vineyards and discovering the stories behind them,” he said. “I love how wine brings people together, just like the relationship-building side of business development,” he added.
As Director of Business Development, David will focus on strengthening IEA’s regional presence, cultivating client relationships, and delivering impactful projects across Texas. Please join us in welcoming David into this new role.
