Building a Stronger Presence
The Goal Behind IEA’s New San Antonio Office
Deep in the heart of Texas, IEA is continuing its growth along the I-35 corridor with the opening of its newest office in San Antonio. The expansion represents more than another location on the map.
It is a strategic move with a clear goal: build a strong local presence that allows IEA to better serve clients, expand its capabilities, and become a trusted long-term partner throughout South Central Texas.
“San Antonio is a key step in IEA’s Texas growth strategy,” said Shakeel Ahmed, PE, IEA’s CEO and Principal. “Our new office brings us closer to clients, strengthens our regional presence, and positions us to deliver impactful transportation, aviation, municipal, and water infrastructure projects.”
San Antonio was a natural next step for IEA. With established offices in Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Austin, the new location strengthens IEA’s presence along the I-35 corridor while giving clients in the region access to IEA’s local expertise and broader team of professionals.
For Rob Clark, PE, Senior Project Manager, the opportunity is as much about growth as it is about proximity.
“San Antonio is a wide-open market that makes all the sense in the world,” Rob said. “If you’re going to expand and invest in growth, San Antonio is a perfect place to do it.”
A major part of that growth will be expanding IEA’s presence in the water and wastewater market. Rob was recruited to help lead that effort, bringing local experience and established industry relationships to an area that represents a significant opportunity for IEA. The addition of Oscar Flores, PE, Project Manager, further strengthens the team’s technical capabilities and provides a strong foundation for IEA’s long-term investment in the San Antonio region.
David Speicher, PE, ENV SP, Director of Business Development, sees the office as an opportunity to strengthen connections.
“Establishing a local presence allows us to build stronger relationships, respond more quickly, and better understand the needs of our clients and communities,” David said. “Our San Antonio office will work closely with our Austin team to strengthen client relationships, support project development, and pursue opportunities throughout the I-35 corridor.”
But the vision for the office goes beyond simply building a client base. IEA wants to build a team and culture that reflects the collaborative approach found throughout the company.
“I want it to be the office that everybody wants to work with the most,” Rob said. “Our goal is to make local clients feel like IEA’s number one priority.”
Looking at years ahead, the San Antonio office is expected to create new career opportunities for employees and strengthen collaboration across IEA’s Texas offices.
For Shakeel, the long-term vision is straightforward: “Build a trusted local team, serve our clients exceptionally well, and build lasting relationships and partnerships throughout the region.”
