IEA Aspire is our Summer Internship Program established in 2022 to develop and grow great engineering talent. During the summer of 2022, our Aspire Interns set SMART goals for their internship geared towards the projects and tasks the Intern was assigned to.

Program History/Purpose

The IEA Aspire program is designed to bring interns and IEA projects together in a collaborative environment to encourage professional growth.

Program Length

Applications are open year-round to apply to our Summer Internships. The program typically starts after Spring Semester finals and goes through early August. We offer the flexibility for our interns to work directly with their supervising engineer to finalize the dates.

Program Requirements

While no minimum GPA and class requirements exist, we do evaluate based on merit. Be sure to highlight the skills that make you the best fit for an IEA internship.

Types of Internships Offered

IEA is offering internships in our Transportation (Roadway, Drainage, and Structural), Aviation, and Municipal teams for Summer 2024.

Experience You Will Gain

IEA Aspire interns have the opportunity to:

  • Gain real world experience on active IEA projects with a variety of clients.
  • Engage with Project Managers, Engineers, and EITs in a TEAM atmosphere.
  • Gain experience in setting and achieving professional SMART goals and personal objectives.
  • Design a portion of an active IEA Project.
  • Visit Construction Sites.
  • Network with fellow engineers
  • Prepare yourself for your career.
  • Experience the IEA culture firsthand to see what makes us different.

What we’ve done

IEA Aspire interns are invited to participate in all of IEA’s events and activities, including activities specifically designed to support networking between interns and senior staff.

These events include:

  • Company Events hosted by each offices Event Committees
