Madrid Drive Alley, City of Duncanville
Duncanville, TX
IEA was the Prime Consultant responsible for designing drainage and paving improvements for the Madrid Drive Alley in the City of Duncanville.
This design consisted of 1,425 LF of alley reconstruction, drainage system upgrades, and sidewalk, and barrier-free ramp improvements at the intersecting streets.
This alley had over 20 connecting driveways, so setting the profile and driveway transitions took a lot of detailed work and balancing grades. It was calculated to be over 20-CFs of run-off going to this alley in the design year storm, and, with an approximate 2% longitudinal grade, had an alley conveyance of about half that amount. IEA collaborated with the City of Duncanville to use grate inlets in their alleys in place of the current curb inlet system. This maintained the typical alley cross-section and simplified construction.
