On-System Bridge Replacements, TxDOT
Cooke and Wichita Counties, TX

IEA was the prime consultant responsible for the PS&E of 3 bridge replacement projects for TxDOT Wichita Falls District on an accelerated schedule of 2 months.

IEA designed all 3 projects in 60 days from notice-to-proceed to final PS&E when an opportunity to use funding arose before the end of the fiscal year. To accomplish this, all solutions for the bridge replacement were contained within the ROW because acquisition would delay project letting.

FM 373 at Dry Elm Creek, Cooke County, TX

- 1160 ft of roadway replacement and 110 ft of bridge replacement of an existing 3-span CIP concrete pan girder superstructure with 2-column concrete bents and abutments. Due to the accelerated schedule, IEA developed an innovative phased bridge construction to allow part of the new bridge to be built over the existing pan girder bridge superstructure. This reduced the construction to 2 phases instead of 3 and eliminated the need for temporary widenings.

US 287 at Huntington Road, Wichita County, TX

- 2,164 ft of roadway replacement and replaced an operationally deficient diamond interchange including bridge overpass. The project was challenging to contain in the ROW due to the substandard 13'8" vertical clearance. The solution was to minimize the bridge replacement structure depth (box beams) to ensure the project was contained within the existing ROW to meet the needed letting schedule.

SH 240 at Sinclair Road Drain, Wichita County, TX

- 109 ft of roadway replacement and the replacement of a bridge with a multi-barrel culvert to allow easier widening of the structure when the City street was developed to full capacity and alignment.
