Erosion Control Group 4
City of Dallas, TX

IEA designed gabion and rip-rap structures to stabilize and restore 7 identified creek bank locations along the Jackson, Audelia and Rocky Branch tributaries, which are all part of the Jackson Branch tributary network in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas.

The eroded locations posed an imminent threat to paved trails and homes that abut the creek. These bank stabilization activities were authorized under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act by Nationwide Permit 13.

During the project, IEA's scope was increased to include design and construction administration for a high-priority rush water main relocation within the Kessler Park area. The design was sensitive to existing historical features. The main was constructed utilizing Horizontal Directional Drilling, then pulling PVC pipe with Certa-Lok restrained joints. IEA completed design of the water main in less than 4 weeks.

IEA assisted with the negotiations with the Contractor to add the water main relocation to an existing City Construction Contract by change order.
