IEA designed paving and sidewalk improvements around 2 existing at-grade railroad track crossings in the City of Richardson. Both locations were rough crossings for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists due to deteriorated or inadequate paving and walkway components.

The first location was a DART at-grade railroad crossing of the 3000 block of Waterview Parkway with severly deteriorated and failing rubber track crossing panels, and isolated failing concrete paving panels on each side of the crossing. This location had a gap in the sidewalk on the Richardson side of the roadway. The rail line was not in use and did not have an anticipated future use, but it was along the future Cotton Belt Rail Corridor. In coordination with DART and the City, IEA developed a scope to resolve the urgent safety and comfort issues with an interim project focus.

The second location was a KCS at-grade railroad crossing of the 400 W. block of Campbell Road, with deteriorated and abrupt asphalt overlays on the approaches and descents on each side of the tracks and also nearby needed isolated concrete panel, curb, gutter, and sidewalk repairs.
