IEA Inc. is seeking an H&H Practice Lead to join our team.
This individual will direct and coordinate H&H projects including managing a wide array of H&H projects with Dallas area, Houston area and other Texas clients.
This individual will perform outreach and marketing to obtain work from TxDOT, Municipalities, North Central Council of Governments (NCTCOG), and other clients.
Job Requirements
- Collaborate and coordinate with multi-discipline design engineers and technicians
- Execute and manage projects for TxDOT
- Execute and manage projects for NCTCOG
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule
- Prepare technical documents including drainage reports, project deliverable packages, field reports, and design documentation
- Lead the H&H marketing pursuits
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or equivalent from an ABET/EAC accredited program
- Texas Professional Engineer required
- TxDOT experience required
- Minimum 10+ years of working experience related to hydrology and hydraulics for highway/roadway projects required
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred
- Proficiency in generating drainage impact studies for minor and major roadway projects preferred
Skills
- Experience building and leading a team
- Strong technical knowledge of 1D and 2D Hydraulic Modeling
- Knowledge and experience with MicroStation required

Sr. Project Manager/Lead Roadway Engineer (AUS/HOU)

Description
IEA Inc. currently has an opening for a Senior Project Manager/Lead Roadway Engineer to join our Roadway Team.
This individual will manage transportation design projects for clients such as TxDOT, cities, counties, and toll entities. A strong background in Texas roadway design engineering is required as well as understanding and having an ability to coordinate with multiple disciplines (including roadway drainage, structures, survey and others). Extensive knowledge of TxDOT Specifications and the TxDOT Roadway Design Manual are strongly preferred.
The candidate will lead a team of 2 to 6 professionals in a fast-paced engineering environment where projects may be derived from many delivery methods including conventional publicly bid projects and design-build.
Job Requirements
- Lead a team to develop engineering documents that achieve our clients' goals and objectives while meeting schedule commitments and budget requirements.
- Manage/develop engineering designs including geometric alignments, profiles, cross sections, construction sequencing, and maintenance of traffic details.
- Create engineering documents including Typical Section Packages, Pavement Design Reports, and Variation/Exception Reports.
- Coordinate with IEA's clients and team members, prepare meeting notes, prepare invoices, and progress reports to support his or her projects.
- Perform quality control reviews and prepare/oversee construction quantity estimates.
- Responsible for the review and sealing of projects and supervising the work of other engineers.
- Represent the company in professional, civic, and political organizations and activities.
- Pursue additional work from existing and new IEA clients and be responsible for meeting with clients, preparing pursuit materials and coordinating with required discipline leads.

Senior Project Engineer - Aviation

Under the supervision of the Director of Aviation, the Aviation Senior Project Manager will lead the planning, design, and delivery of complex airport infrastructure projects. This position is responsible for managing multidisciplinary teams, coordinating with clients and regulatory agencies, and ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with applicable standards and regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise, leadership ability, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to quality, safety, and professional excellence.
The position is responsible for assisting in business development activities to identify, position and secure client opportunities in the aviation market. This individual will manage and supervise a team of direct reports and assist in the identification and acquisition of personnel to expand the team while growing the aviation market.
This work will include a wide array of aviation projects with commercial and general aviation clients. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of eight years of experience in aviation engineering, with a strong background in airport infrastructure, airside and landside design, and assist with project management.
Job activities will include the geometric design of runways, taxiways, aprons, roadways; bituminous and concrete pavement design; stormwater and utility infrastructure design; support facility infrastructure and related systems; coordination with airports, airlines, FAA, and other tenants; and construction administration/management.
Job Requirements

Roadway Worker In Charge

Description
IEA is seeking qualified and experienced Roadway Workers In Charge (WIC) to provide essential on-track safety services on Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) rail property.
As a WIC, you will be responsible for protecting roadway workers, contractors, and equipment from the hazards of moving trains, locomotives, and on-track machinery. This role ensures compliance with DART's Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) program and industry safety standards. WICs will work on active rail lines, coordinating with DART dispatch, train crews, and work groups to establish safe working conditions.
This is a contract or on-call position ideal for safety-focused professionals in the railroad or transit industry. Work may involve irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with potential travel within the Dallas-Fort Worth region.
Job Requirements
- Establish and maintain on-track safety for roadway work groups by setting up working limits, foul time, train approach warnings, or other protective measures in accordance with DART's RWP program and federal guidelines.
- Conduct thorough job safety briefings for all personnel on-site, covering on-track safety procedures, potential hazards, emergency protocols, and communication methods.
- Monitor track conditions, approaching trains, and work activities to ensure workers remain clear of live tracks and equipment.
- Communicate effectively with DART train dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors via radio, phone, or electronic systems to coordinate train movements and grant permissions within working limits.
- Place and remove safety devices such as flags, derails, locks, and warning signs as required.
- Inspect work sites for compliance with safety rules, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to good faith challenge procedures.
- Document all activities, including job briefings, incident reports, daily work logs, and electronic forms for submission to DART and regulatory authorities.
- Respond to emergencies, incidents, or rule violations promptly, ensuring the safety of all personnel and reporting as required.
- Remain immediately accessible to protected workers at all times and enforce accessibility procedures.
- Participate in ongoing safety audits, training refreshers, and compliance monitoring to uphold DART's safety standards.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience in railroad or transit operations, preferably in maintenance of way (MOW), flagging, or safety roles with a Class 1 railroad, regional short line, transit system (e.g., DART or similar), state DOT rail division, railroad supplier, contractor, or consultant.
- Successful completion of DART-specific Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) training or Light Railway Worker Protection Program (LRWPP), including demonstrated proficiency in on-track safety rules, working limits establishment, train approach warnings, and territory-specific procedures.
- Evidence of initial and periodic (annual) recertification, including recorded examinations and demonstrated proficiency in supervised on-track safety scenarios.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination, including vision, hearing, and mobility tests.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including criminal history and employment verification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications, such as FRA-qualified Employee In Charge (EIC) or experience with transit-specific RWP programs.
- Prior experience providing WIC services on DART or similar light rail/commuter rail properties.

Engineering Internship

IEA Inc. is currently looking for qualified Engineering Interns to join our team in Texas on site. We have Internship opportunities available in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin and Houston.
These individuals will perform roadway, H&H, and traffic design on highway projects under the supervision of a Project Manager and/or Task Leader.
The primary duties of the Engineering Intern are to produce engineering drawings, layouts, sketches, maps, specifications, and estimates using engineering software with assistance from other Project Engineers and Project Managers. Work may also entail field investigations and inspections.
Job Requirements
- Apply knowledge of engineering to design highway improvements.
- Gather and correlate basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Work on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple tests.
- Propose approaches to solving new problems encountered.
- Prepare project designs related to transportation and municipal projects.
